Still Alive

I bet you have been wondering where the heck I went. Well, the answer is...no where! I have been stuck in the house since Oct.8th. That is the day I had surgery on my nose. Fun times! I have only been able to breathe out of one side of my nose for as long as I could remember. I was finally fed up enough to do something about it!

So Thursday, I spent most of the day at Elmendorf Air Force Base hospital. (The Air Force and Army bases are connected up here. It is a really great facility.) The surgery went off with out a hitch. Anyway, once I was able to eat crackers and keep water down I was able to go home. A special thanks to my friend Cherie for making me eat those crackers or I might still be there!

I spent most of the next few days sleeping. But 6 days later I must say I feel much better! I can even breathe in a lot more air now thanks to the stints they put in my nose so it wouldn't swell shut. I am very nervous for this Thursday. I go back in to have the splint removed, stints and stitches out. I think the day will definitely call for pain meds. I am very excited to be able to breathe and as an added bonus they straightened out my nose! Or so they say... The splint has been on since I woke up but I trust them.

I have decided to not post any pics of my recovery out of fear you will never see me as the same old Jackie again. It is pretty scary! But I promise I will post some soon. So instead, I took a picture of this tree right over our back fence. I thought it was cool because it looked like it was on fire to me!

Oh my gosh. I'm so glad you are doing ok - what a bummer!!! I bet you will be glad when this is all done and you can ~really~ breath in that fresh Alaskan air ;-)

I can't really say that sounds like a lot of fun, but I'm glad you had peeps there to get you home and recovering. Can't wait to see the "after" pictures!
