I have been tagged!

I was tagged by Karen (www.huffmaniacs.blogspot.com)for a MEME (6 random thoughts/ habits/ quirks, about me). I am not very interesting but I will try...here it goes:


1. I am super duper afraid of the dark! I am serious. I don't even like walking into Wal-Mart at night alone. Something about the dark makes me feel...watched. It is a very uneasy feeling!

2. I like to make up songs. It's true! My poor husband and dog have been on the losing end of this quirk. I can make songs up out of the blue or I use a melody from song I hear on the radio. And I will sing them loud and proud!

3. I have always wondered if we all taste the same tastes (SDG, you know what I am talking about. I have bothered you with this theory many a time!). You know like when I taste and apple, does it taste the same to someone else? Or when they eat an apple do they taste an orange? But have just been always told it was an apple. This is hard for me to explain...maybe I should quit before you people really think I am nuts!

4. I have to break my Twizzlers into little pieces before I eat them. I can't eat them whole. It is weird. And I can't buy the Twizzler bites because they taste gross. They do, trust me!

5. I always think about someday opening a candy store (A&J Candies). I want to make it like the candy store at the beginning of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (all old school). Although, I know this will probably never happen.

6. I just went and asked Aaron something to write and he thinks its gross that I like warm milk. I don't think that is weird. Do you? Sometimes I can't drink it fast so it sits for awhile. You can't waste it! So drink it up I say whether it is cold or at room temperature.

Remember the Glo Worm?

This past weekend, Aaron and I traveled to Ryan and Briana's house in Ohio. It was fun to see them, Delaney, Steph and Aunt Heather who were also visiting. We had a good time hanging out, laughing and playing with Delaney, who is growing like a weed. The following are a few pictures from the weekend:

Remember Glo Worms? I loved those things. I am glad they are still around! Delaney got her first one from Aunt Heather.

Aaron and Ryan attended the Easy Rider Bike Show in Columbus, Ohio. They also went for their first ride together with their Harley Davidson's.

Another reason for the trip was to pass along my little red cavalier to the next lucky owner, Trevor. It was hard to say goodbye to the car I have had for 8 years. It was a good little car that never gave me any trouble. Good bye my old four wheeled friend! You were my great escape.

And finally, Nickie sent me some pictures of Sydney on a snowday that I thought were great. Enjoy!

The snowman she built with the snowman kit she got for Christmas. It came with all the essentials to build a snowman sans snow. Isn't that a great gift idea?!

Welcome to your 30's!

Happy 30th Birthday Nater!

(His birthday isn't until Sun. but I am going out of town and I didn't want to miss it!)

I met Nate 12 years ago his freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The best college roommate in the world (Mandy a.k.a. Perky) and I had just learned a new card trick and were dying to show someone. So down the row of houses we went trying to find someone, anyone who was home. Nate's life was forever changed when he opened the door to find two girls rambling to him about cards. We pushed past him and made him watch. I can't even remember if we did the card trick right. But every since then we have all been the best of friends!

A Kentucky snowstorm...

We finally got some real snow down here. While it doesn't look like much, Mother Nature managed to shut the surrounding schools down with her icy roads. As you can see here, Boone is loving the snow! He ran like crazy when I let him off his cable.

Fondue Anyone?

On Saturday, Aaron and I went out for our Valentine's Day dinner. We went early because well...big crowds don't suit us! Aaron made reservations at The Melting Pot in Louisville. It was our first time at the fondue restaurant but we had heard a lot about the place from friends and family.

The reviews were correct and The Melting Pot didn't disappoint! We had a really good time and had some really great food. We started the meal with a pot of Spinach Artichoke Cheese fondue with bread, apple and cauliflower dippers.

The next course (Fondue Fusion) included Lobster Tail, Filet Mignon, Balsamic Marinated Sirloin,Garlic and Herb Chicken, Citrus Pork Tenderloin, White Shrimp, Wild Mushroom Ravioli, and vegetables. I know it sounds like a lot but they only give you five pieces of each. Don't worry it really fills you up. They bring all the meat to you uncooked and you get to cook it yourself in whichever cooking style you choose. We chose the Coq au Vine fondue which consisted of broth, fresh herbs, mushrooms, garlic, spices and burgundy wine. Is your mouth watering yet?

And to top off the meal we chose a Snickers Chocolate fondue with brownie, marshmallow, cheesecake, pound cake, strawberry and banana dippers. Delicious!

I would recommend The Melting Pot experience to anyone! We had a lot of fun. I thought at first cooking your own food would be annoying but it really added to the fun of it all. The waiter was really helpful in helping us pick out a great meal. We also enjoyed a private little table which made it romantic. We liked not being out amongst the crazies! We are all the crazy we can handle. :o)

Happy Birthday Sydney!

Wigwam anyone?

Aaron and I don't have much time left here in KY. We will be moving to Maine at the end of March. And while I am excited to live near the ocean and get lots of fresh seafood, I will miss KY. I actually really like it here. I have enjoyed the warm weather, sweet tea, our church, hanging with Lauren and of course the occasion tornado warning. OK, so maybe not that last one so much!

But below are a few other reasons I have grown to like KY and the people who live here:

They get straight to the point!

They like to get where there are going and fast!


You can buy just about anything.



And you can sleep just about anywhere!

Congrats to Giants fans!

Well another Super Bowl has come and gone! We went to a classmate of Aaron's last night to watch the game. It was interesting being the only girl. I think I learned a few new words! I will leave it at that. There was a mix of Giants and Pats fans so their bantering made it fun. But I really enjoyed Ales & Titus asking questions to try and understand the game. There are just two of many international students in Aaron's class. I tend to forget that football in another country isn't the same as football here in the states.

We all had a good time. Although, I am not really a football fan so I didn't really care about the game. Regardless of who won the game last night, I won because I got to stuff my face full of goodies! Isn't that what a Super Bowl party is really about anyway!?!

And the winner is...the Jello!

Last night, I gave Boone some left over Jello. He had never had Jello before so I thought it would be fun to see if he would eat it. Little did I know that it would spark a 10 minute stand off between him and the jiggly substance. I watched him stare and bark at it for at least 5 minutes before I went into the living room. He stayed in the kitchen and continued his stand. Later on in the evening I checked his bowl and he did eventually eat it.

I am pretty sure it was the movement and consistency that threw him off his game but who knows! I only got a little of his show before my batteries ran out but you can see a little of what went down. Crazy dog!
